In the petroleum industry, both oil-based drilling fluid (mud) and water-based drilling fluid are cooled by wide channel plate heat exchangers.
The main components of oil-based drilling fluids are diesel oil, asphalt/organic soil and treatment agents. After the drilling fluid is treated, it is transported to the wide channel plate heat exchanger by the mud pump, and the heat is exchanged with the cooling water to cool down the drilling fluid. The cooled drilling fluid is then transferred to the next process.
The composition of drilling fluid mud is relatively complex, with high density, high viscosity, solid phase content of about 40%, large particles and other characteristics, which are difficult to handle in the heat exchange medium. Therefore, Beijing Prepler adopts the newly developed wide flow channel PRO85 product as the oil-based drilling fluid cooler, the flow channel width is 5x53mm, and the fluid is an S-shaped uniform flow channel. It can effectively solve the problem of blockage and retention of drilling fluid with high viscosity and large particles in the heat exchanger, and ensure its good passability. In addition, the unique plate structure design of PRO85 can effectively realize the small temperature difference of mud heat transfer, prevent sediment accumulation, reduce the number of disassembly and washing, extend the operation time of the equipment, and achieve very good heat transfer and operation effects in the drilling fluid cooling project.
