The raw sugar cane juice is produced in the juice extraction process of sugarcane and the first heating process of sugar production. The first step of sugarcane sugar production is to use a press to squeeze out the sugar juice in the sugar cane to extract the sugar. A certain amount of permeate water is added during the pressing process to dilute the residual raw or thicker juice in the bagasse so that more sugar is extracted. The cane juice squeezed by the press is called raw sugar cane juice.

   The raw sugar cane juice enters the first heater through the pipeline, and the plate heat exchanger is used to heat the raw juice. The temperature of first heating process should be controlled at 55~70℃. The common process of cleaning the plate heat exchanger is once a week. When the machine is turned off, sediment and sugarcane chaff are deposited inside the heat exchanger, and there is a thin layer of fouling on the plate surface, but it is less than that of the tubular heat exchanger. It can be washed with water and brushed off. A "backwash" is carried out every working day to wash away some of the sediment. But it is best to first remove the fibrous impurities in the cane juice with a sieve.

   For materials with more suspended solids, such as raw sugar cane juice, the use of free flow wide gap plate heat exchangers could have a better effect for the operation. The free flow wide gap plate heat exchangers are able to use the low temperature vapor from the juice with vacuum condition as the heat source to heat the low temperature sugarcane juice, which has an advantage of energy saving.
