The plate heat exchanger gasket is a key part of the heat exchanger. Due to the continuous expansion of the application field of plate heat exchangers, different media and processes have different requirements for temperature resistance, pressure resistance and corrosion resistance. The operating temperature of the plate heat exchanger is actually the temperature that the gasket can withstand. It is obviously impossible to use a gasket to adapt to all situations. Instead, gaskets of different materials should be used for different situations. The material of the gasket should also have heat resistance, elasticity and corrosion resistance.
The commonly used gasket cross-sectional shape is a six-sided row. Plate heat exchanger sealing gaskets can be divided into 3 forms according to the installation method on the heat exchange plates:
(1) Direct paste type: After applying sealant on the sealing gasket, stick it directly into the installation groove of the heat exchange plate. This type of gasket has a simple structure and is easy to process. However, the installation and disassembly are relatively troublesome, and it is not suitable for occasions where the plate heat exchanger is frequently disassembled and assembled.
(2) Rubber nail inlay type: assembly holes are designed on the heat exchange plate, and rubber nails are designed on the side of the sealing gasket. After the sealing gasket is put into the installation groove, the rubber nails are inlaid in the assembly hole.
(3) Snap-fitting type: There are buckle nails on the side of the sealing gasket, and the buckle nail is used to buckle the sealing gasket on the heat exchange plate.
Inlaid and snap-mounted gaskets have complex structures and are troublesome to process. However, it is relatively easy to install and disassemble, and can be used for plate heat exchangers that require frequent disassembly and assembly.
The commonly used gasket materials, temperature resistance and applicable media are as follows:
(1) NBR (-10℃——+110℃): water, sea water, mineral oil, salt water
(2) EPDM (-25℃——+150℃): hot water, steam, acid, alkali
(3) HNBR (-10℃——+150℃): the applicable scope of high temperature mineral oil, high temperature water and NBR
(4) FKM (-5℃——+180℃): acid, alkali, fluid
(5) FEPM (0℃——+160℃): concentrated acid, alkali, high temperature oil, steam
If the gasket of the plate heat exchanger is leaking, broken, aging, etc. during use, it should be replaced in time. The sequence of replacing the gasket is as follows:
(1) Remove the used gasket. When disassembling, make sure that there are no scratches in the gasket groove.
(2) Use acetone, methyl ethyl ketone or other ketone solvents to clean up the residual glue in the gasket groove.
(3) Clean the gasket groove and gasket with a clean cloth or cotton yarn.
(4) For stick-on gaskets, the adhesive needs to be evenly spread in the gasket groove.
(5) Stick a clean new gasket on the board.
(6) The plate with the gasket should be placed in a flat, cool and ventilated place before it can be installed and used after it has dried naturally.
